The St. Louis Blues will certainly be looking to retool their roster after selling some key veterans at the deadline. Could they jumpstart the process this summer?
Blues to Add Young Star?
NHL reporter Matthew DeFranks recently reported that the Blues could be looking to jumpstart their retooling process with the addition of a young star forward. Some huge names were included in this report, which begs the question of how much the Blues are willing to give up.
Among the names listed are Patrick Laine,
Kyle Connor,
Brandon Hagel, and
Clayton Keller. These are some of the NHL's best young talents, and would certainly add youth to an older St. Louis core.
Is the Price Too High For St. Louis?
One question that comes to mind when considering a potential trade is how St. Louis will afford to acquire one of these young stars. They will all almost certainly cost a 1st round draft pick in addition to young players and prospects. The Blues could probably match that price, but then they lose out on those young players joining their roster next season.
Only time will tell if the Blues have the confidence to make a move this big, but it would certainly be exciting!.
