It's been some time since Mike Babcock left the NHL as a coach, but it appears as though the tough veteran may be returning soon.
Babcock to Return to the NHL With Columbus?
Trusted NHL source Larry Brooks recently reported that Babcock was looking to return to NHL coaching, since his contract with the Leafs (who fired him), was just now expiring. While Babcock was heavily linked to the New York Rangers, it looks like he'll be making his return elsewhere.
So we're told by a reputable source that the disgraced Mike Babcock is «far down the line with a team,» and the inference is that the team is the Blue Jackets. - Larry Brooks
While Columbus isn't the big market that Babcock was used to coaching in, it could be the perfect city for him to rebuild his credibility as a coach, and potentially reshape a team that finished bottom-three in the standings this year.
Who knows, maybe Babcock won't return at all! We'll have to wait and see what happens.
