Trey Fix-Wolansky would have played his 14th NHL game on Saturday, but instead, Columbus Blue Jackets' head coach Brad Larsen has demoted the 23-year-old to the AHL's Cleveland Monsters. Larsen stated to reporters that Fix-Wolansky broke the rules by sleeping in and missing a team meeting.

For Fix-Wolansky, this error could be expensive as he currently holds a two-way contract with the Blue Jackets, earning $809k per year in the NHL. However, that drops to $70k in the minors. Contract payment is pro-rated based on the number of games played at each level.

Drafted in the seventh round in 2018, Fix-Wolansky has yet to score a point in the seven NHL games he has played this season.
