They say honesty is always the best policy, but it doesn't always work. During Vancouver's 5-2 win over the Dallas Stars Tuesday night, Max Domi was called for tripping the Canucks' Elias Pettersson in the 1st period. Domi's stick definitely touched Pettersson's skates, but there wasn't much force behind it, despite the fact that Pettersson went down to his knees for a second. Whether Pettersson felt he had embellished the play or simply tripped on his own at that moment isn't clear, but you could see him waving his hand at the referee in an attempt to get the penalty call on Domi reversed. His honesty was not rewarded, and Domi served two minutes for tripping.
Vancouver's win over Dallas was the team's 5th in a row, which must feel like at least a small victory after such a dismal season.
