Refereeing in the NHL is always a hotly contested issue.
It appears - however - officials' collective sensitivity has spiked this season, resulting in an increased number of misconduct penalties.
Colorado Avalanche F Mikko Rantanen was busted on Sunday for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty simply for telling the ref that he's "f---ing soft."

That Rantanen was penalized for it is all the evidence one really needs to support #96's claim.
