'Rookie vs The Vet' - Kovacevic drops the mitts with Martinez after laying huge hit on Cotter (video)

The Montreal Canadiens wrapped up their four-game Western U.S. swing on Sunday evening in Vegas taking on the Golden Knights.

Just over halfway through the third period, Canadiens rookie defenceman Jonathan Kovacevic laid a huge hit on Golden Knights forward Paul Cotter. After the hit, Golden Knights veteran blueliner Alec Martinez came to the defence of his teammate and dropped the mitts with Kovacevic.

Kovacevic held his own in his first career fight in the NHL, landing several rights on Martinez. The two would then bear hug each other, drifting over towards the boards, before being separated by the officials.
