Sam Bennett scored one of the sickest own-goals in recent memory. Fortunately, he can laugh about it since the Panthers ended up winning the game in overtime.
In the moment, however, it had to be a horrid feeling.
All in all, that was pretty impressive hand-eye from the 26-year old. Ideally the puck goes in the
other team's net, but good to see the reflexes work properly.
At least Bennett had the ability to score a make-up goal in the third period to knot things up at 2-2 to shake off the own-goal. Steve Goldstein's call says it all:
At the end of the day, Bennett's uh-oh can be laughed off, and you can't help but feel good for him. Scoring the tying goal and defeating the NHL's best team...
A true feel-good story all said and done.
