A shocking revelation has emerged regarding the salary of players in the Professional Women's Hockey League!

With the first season of PWHL's history almost done, more details about players and the league came to light.

PWHL players earns a lot less than NHLers: not even $100k a year.

The PWHL's players association chose to not disclose any informations related to the players' salaries, but it all changed when two podcast hosts discusses how much PWHL goalies earn a year.

During a recent episode, Max Truman and Jean Trudel mentioned that PWHL goalies make more than 50-60k a year, but less than 100k, which is what NHLers earn when they appear in an ad.

Here's what they said:

"In your opinion, how much does a starting goaltender in the PWHL make?

[His colleague, Maxime Truman, answered that he believed the figure was around $50,000 to $60,000 per year]

It's a bit more! It's below Cole Caufield's salary for an advertisement ($100,000), but it's a bit more than that." - Jean Trudel

Everyone should fight to reduce the gender pay gap between men and women. While some simple things can explain why PWHL and NHL players don't make the same salaries, it's still discouraging to see that they're not even close to the NHL's minimum wage.

Many people hope to see the situation changed soon. Less than a year since the PWHL entered in the hockey world, the league is already victim of its own popularity.

It was recently announced that Montreal sold out the Canadiens' Bell Center in a few minutes, breaking the League's attendance record.
