Goaltender Jeremy Smith should probably be counting his lucky stars right now. The Canadian, who is currently playing with Kunlun Red Star of the KHL, was holding his ground in a game on Friday when a hard wrister caught him right in the mask. The puck actually lodged in the eyeholes of his helmet. Play had to be stopped while Smith's mask was taken to the bench so someone could get the puck out of there. It was really wedged in, and a teammate had to pull on in quite hard in order to remove it. Smith, in the meantime, likely came just millimeters from suffering a serious eye injury. Check it out:

Smith played 10 games in the NHL for the Colorado Avalanche in 2016-17. He was drafted in the 2nd round by Nashville in 2007. He's been with Kunlun for the past four seasons.
