The Montreal Canadiens are one of several teams that will be in sell-mode over the next five weeks leading up to the NHL's trade deadline, which falls on March 3rd this year.

Among the names that are garnering interest is 28-year-old forward Sean Monahan, who the Canadiens acquired over the summer.

On Thursday's edition of 'Insider Trading' on TSN, Pierre LeBrun mentioned that while the Canadiens aren't actively shopping Monahan, teams have been calling and one of them is the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Colorado Avalanche.

"I think the Colorado Avalanche is a team to monitor when it comes to Sean Monahan." LeBrun said.

He added, "However, they don't have a lot of future assets, they've spent a lot over the past couple of years to get too serious with [those players]. That's why I think a guy like Monahan makes sense and that's why it's a name I know the Avs have talked about."

Monahan, a native of Brampton (Ontario), hasn't played since December 5th against the Vancouver Canucks after suffering a lower-body injury, but has been skating in a non-contact jersey over the last week. In 25 games this season, Monahan has been a bright spot for the Canadiens, tallying 17 points (six goals, 11 assists), 16 penalty minutes and is a minus-five.

Would Sean Monahan be a good fit for the Colorado Avalanche as they look to win back-to-back Stanley Cups? Let us know in the poll below!
