Former NHL and Hall of Fame defenceman Chris Pronger has left the Florida Panthers organization to work for a luxury travel company he co-founded with his wife, Lauren, the team announced Wednesday.

Pronger had been with the Panthers organization since 2017, where he worked as a senior adviser before becoming the senior vice president of hockey operations in 2019. Back in April, he had mentioned that he was interested in one day becoming an NHL general manager, however that plan seems to be on halt for now.

“I was able to grow as an executive and more importantly as a person in my three years with the hockey club,” said Pronger. “I wish the Panthers organization nothing but the best in the upcoming playoffs and years to come.”

Pronger last played in the NHL during the 2011-12 season but was forced to retire due to concussion issues. He played in 1167 regular season games which included stints with the Hartford Whalers, St. Louis Blues, Edmonton Oilers, Anaheim Ducks, and of course the Flyers. He won both the Hart and Norris Trophy during the 1999-2000 season. He won a Stanley Cup while with the Ducks in the 2007 playoffs, and also won two Olympic Gold Medals.
