Leafs legend Eddie Shack is in palliative care
Sad news broke on Monday, as it was announced that Toronto Maple Leafs legend Eddie Shack has been put in palliative care due to cancer.
Shack, 83, played 1047 NHL regular season games over his career. Although he is mainly remembered for his time with the Leafs, he also had stints with the New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Buffalo Sabres, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. In those 1047 games, he scored 239 goals and 465 points, while also racking up 1439 penalty minutes.
Shack helped the Leafs win four Stanley Cups during his time with the team, including the team's most recent championship which came in 1967. In 74 career playoff games, he put up 13 points. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Shack family at this time.
