After the game, it was clear that Fleury was not himself, with Michael Russo of The Athletic reporting that the three-time Stanley Cup champion is taking a leave of absence until Tuesday due to a personal matter.
Fleury, 38, is having a fairly good season thus far. In 25 games, he has a 13-8-2 record along with a 2.94 GAA, a .901 save percentage and one shutout.
Never seen a goalie beat himself up like Fleury. He's slamming things, apologizing to teammates, cursing, saying 5 goals should be a win every time
I can tell you, MAF has been dealing with a deep personal matter the last week and is leaving #mnwild tonight til Tuesday— Michael Russo (@RussoHockey) January 8, 2023
