Ryan Reynolds responds after Cam Talbot unveils new Deadpool mask
Ottawa Senators goaltender Cam Talbot's new mask design has caught the attention of the person who plays the character it depicts. Talbot unveiled a new bucket this week that featured pictures of the iconic character Deadpool, played by Hollywood A-lister Ryan Reynolds in the Marvel universe. Here's the new design.
Reynolds, who has publicly said he's attempting to put together a group of investors to buy the Senators, has seen the mask, and loves it.
"Jacques Plante would be proud as hell," said Reynolds on Twitter.
Plante is credited as an innovator in the world of hockey for becoming the first goaltender to wear a mask on a regular basis during play in the NHL after he became tired of injuries from taking pucks to the face and head (who can blame him?). It's really cool to see Reynolds reaching out to Sens players, and I would be shocked if he's not involved in the sale of the team in some way. It's guaranteed to be a huge public relations bump for the entire NHL if Reynolds becomes part of an ownership group. The sale of the team is expected to take place sometime in February or March.
