Carolina Hurricanes forwards Sebastian Aho and Ryan Dzingel joined defenseman Sami Vatanen in returning to train at PNC Arena, on Wednesday.

The Hurricanes officially opened their training facility on Tuesday as Phase 2 of the Return to Play Plan. Teams had the option of opening their facilities on June 8. Defenseman Dougie Hamilton, forward Jordan Staal, and goalie James Reimer were the first players to return to the training facility.

Hamilton's last game played was on January 16 against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He fractured his left fibula and missed 21 games before the coronavirus pause began on March 12.

Prior to the start of Phase 2, Hamilton was cleared to skate on his own. Hurricanes coach Rob Brind'Amour said Hamilton will be able to fully participate when the whole team reconvenes.

“It's good to see Dougie back skating,” Staal said on the Hurricanes website. “He looks good.”
