Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl didn't play on Friday night against the Seattle Kraken and it began to fuel questions as to why he didn't dress. As of Saturday afternoon, he was listed as day-to-day, but did skate in the morning.

More information regarding Draisaitl's absence was revealed on Saturday evening by ESPN's Kevin Weekes. According to Weekes, the Cologne (Germany) native is dealing with a core muscle strain.

"Tough injury news for the @EdmontonOilers, as I'm told Hart Trophy Winner Draisaitl is dealing with a core muscle strain." Weekes said in a Twitter post.

It's unclear how long Draisaitl will be out of the Oilers' lineup, but it's highly unlikely that he will play on Saturday night when Edmonton welcomes the Winnipeg Jets to Rogers Place.

The 27-year-old is having another strong season so far, putting up 57 points (21 goals, 36 assists), 16 penalty minutes and is a plus-four.
