Travis Konecny takes exception after Alex Ovchkin scores his second empty-netter of the night (video)

If you're tracking where Alex Ovechkin stands on the NHL's All-Time goal scoring list, he's now at 795 after scoring two Wednesday night. At least one person wasn't happy with the way that happened, though, as both of Ovi's goals would come on an empty net.

With the Washington Capitals leading the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 late in the third period of Wednesday's game, Ovechkin potted an empty netter with under two minutes left to play to all but seal the win for his team. About a minute later, he would add another empty netter to pad his stats, which seemed to infuriate the Flyers' Travis Konecny. Check it out:

As mentioned by the announcers, it was likely more about the way that Ovechkin scored the goals rather than the goal itself that Konecny was angry over. Still, it seems petty on Konecny's part to get upset over this. It's not like Ovechkin decided to do some triple axles on his way to the net before putting in the puck in.

"Maybe it wasn't as bad as I thought," said Konecny told reporters following the game.

"They lost. They have character and a good group of guys. Obviously, frustration," said Ovechkin.

Ovi is now six goals away from tying Gordie Howe for second on the All-Time Goals list. He is 99 goals (yup!) away from catching Wayne Gretzky for first. He's also five empty net goals away from tying Gretzky's record of 56 empty netters over the course of his career.
