Connor Brown open to staying in Ottawa long-term
Ottawa Senators forward Connor Brown is open to signing a long-term deal with the team, according to his agent Jeff Jackson.
Speaking with TSN early Thursday morning, Jackson mentioned that the Senators have made it clear the feeling is mutual, and that the team would like to re-sign Brown to a multi-year contract. The 26-year-old had a solid season for a struggling Sens team this year, posting 16 goals and 43 points in 71 games. The 43 points are a career high, while the 16 goals were just four shy of his 2016-17 output.
Brown, a former sixth-round pick (156th overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs, had his first season with the Senators this year. He was part of the trade this summer that saw himself and defenceman Nikita Zaitsev head to the Sens in exchange for Cody Ceci, Ben Harpur, Aaron Luchuk, and a third round pick for the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
Prior to joining the Sens, Brown played in three seasons with the Leafs. In 324 career regular season games, he has 59 goals and 83 assists.
