Defenceman Radko Gudas often shows little concern for his own safety and the safety of others during play. It was once noted by NBC Sports writer James O'Brien that "if the Department of Player Safety had a speed dial list of regulars, Gudas would have a prominent spot on it.” However, Gudas, currently a member of the Washington Capitals, is expressing deep concern with the NHL's plan to finish out the 2019-20 season.

"I don't think it should be played when the whole world is canceling the seasons. Hockey would probably be the only team sport that would push it like that. They don't let us go to the Olympics so we don't get hurt, and at this time they want to continue the NHL season. If we continued to play, our sport would go a little against the flow," said Gudas in the Czech Republic, where he was participating in a golf tournament.

"Money is money and [it] is currently moving the world. It is a bit sad that for money they are willing to risk the health of so many players," he added.

"When one guy catches it, it basically has a whole league within a week. One stupid stutter and it can be canceled again. The question is whether it makes sense to go there under this risk," Gudas pointed out.

The latest plans have the NHL reportedly undertaking a 24 team playoff to start sometime in June. Games will most likely take place in empty arenas in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
