On May 12, 1986, the St. Louis Blues pulled off a comeback miracle that lives on in the heart of every Blues fan today.
Thirty-four years ago, the Calgary Flames traveled to the St. Louis Arena for Game 6 of the Conference Finals. Calgary quickly took a 4-1 lead. Doug Wickenheiser scored a second goal for the Blues during a 5 on 3 powerplay, which was answered with a fifth goal for the Flames.

With twelve minutes remaining in the third period, the Blues trailed 5-2 as their miracle began to come to fruition. Brian Sutter scored off a deflection, bringing Blues fans to their feet. The Blues were four minutes away from elimination when Greg Paslawski brought the score to 5-4. He followed it up with another goal to tie the game with 1:08 left.

Fans at the Arena watched anxiously as Flames defenseman Al MacInnis took several shots on goal in overtime. Calgary came close to winning, as Joe Mullen fired off a slapshot from inside the blueline. His shot hit the post, and the Blues had the chance to finish off their miraculous game. After 7:30 had passed in overtime, Doug Wickenheiser scored his second goal of the night, carrying the Blues to a 6-5 win.

This comeback became known as one of the greatest comeback miracles in NHL history.
