With the 2020-21 season coming up, the Colorado Avalanche will also be celebrating their 25th anniversary. Once again, Quebec Nordiques tribute jerseys appear to be up for discussion.

Declan Bolger, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, who owns the Avalanche, said in an interview with The Athletic that the subject was up for discussion.

“Next year is the team's 25th anniversary season. I think there is an opportunity there”.

Bolger continued to say that the Hurricanes' success with wearing Hartford Whalers tribute jerseys is part of the reason the organization is considering the Nordiques uniform as a nod to their past.

The Avalanche have a few members of the organization with roots in the Nordiques. Most notably general manager Joe Sakic, who played the first seven of his total 20 NHL seasons with the Quebec team. The Nordiques played in the NHL for 23 seasons before relocating to Colorado for the 1995-96 season, in which they swept the Florida Panthers in the finals to claim a Stanley Cup in their first season as an organization.
