San Jose Sharks sign KHL goaltender Alexei Melnichuk
As confirmed on Monday by Alexei Melnichuk's agent, Dan Milstein, the 21-year-old Russian goaltender has made the leap to the NHL, signing with the San Jose Sharks.
Melnichuk posted a .930 save percentage and 1.68 GAA through 16 games in his rookie season with SKA St. Petersburg of the Kontintenal Hockey League this past year, and is expected to add some much needed goaltending depth to a struggling San Jose Sharks organization.
As sources have indicated, the 21-year-old netminder is reported to have signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the organization.
