The NHL seems dead-set on resuming and finishing the 2019-20 and now has reportedly informed players on when it wants to re-open training facilities. According to a report by TSN's Frank Seravalli, a memo has gone out to players letting them know the league is hoping to have them back at facilities by mid-to-late May "provided we continue to trend favorably."

The memo also tells players currently outside of club city should "consider whether to plan to return to their Club cities."

Players, coaches and staff have been self-isolating since March 12th. The time frame has been extended three times, with the latest date for an end being April 30th. However, that date is expected to be extended again. Seravalli added that teams and players have been told to continue abiding by the previous recommendations the NHL issued since suspending play due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It has been reported last week by the New York Post that at least one team had told players to be ready to get back to training by May 15th. That report did not name the specific team. To date, eight NHL players have tested positive for COVID-19; three from the Colorado Avalanche and five from the Ottawa Senators. All have since recovered.
