The Calgary Flames announced Wednesday morning that they have signed Swedish defencemen Johannes Kinnvall to a two-year, entry-level contract. Kinvall will remain in Sweden for next season and come over for the 2021-22 season.

Kinnvall, 22, has spent the last three seasons in the SHL. He had a fantastic year offensively for HV71 this season, posting 11 goals and 40 points in 51 games. This was a massive improvement over his 22-point output the season prior.

In total, Kinnvall has posted 23 goals and 62 points in 121 games over his SHL career. He will certainly be a player Flames fans should keep an eye out for next season to see if his numbers in the SHL can improve yet again, as they did this past season. This signing has potential to pay off well for the Flames.
