According to a recent report from a Swedish news outlet, New York Islanders defenseman Sebastian Aho will pay roughly $3,800 USD after being caught driving under the influence by police.

The article states that Aho, 26, had 0.32 mg/g alcohol in his blood. In Sweden, the legal limit is 0.02. The Swedish blue liner is said to have accepted fault and also released a statement explaining the entire ordeal.

"I was on vacation with my family and a couple of our friends," Aho began. "One night we went out for dinner together. The next day around 10 a.m. we continued our trip, I was then stopped in a routine check and were over the limit."

"I'm deeply regretful and will learn from this mistake and I will definitely never drive a car the day after again."

The Islanders themselves have yet to comment on the story, as it is still very recent. Last season saw Aho appear in a career high 36 games with them, registering two goals and 12 points. He recently agreed to a two-year, $1.65 million contract extension that will carry an average annual value of $825,000.
