According to the NHL Public Relations Twitter account, the NHL has decided to extend the self-quarantine date from April 15th to April 30th after consulting with medical experts. The statement reads like this:

“The NHL, following consultation with our medical experts, as well as with representatives of the NHLPA, has made the decision to extend the self-quarantine recommendation for NHL players, coaches and hockey staff through and including Thursday, April 30. The self-quarantine had been in place through April 15.”

This hardly comes as a surprise, as it has already been made quite clear hockey won't be returning for quite some time anyway, but this just makes it that much more official. Of course, several regions have also banned public gatherings for dates as far away as the end of June. However, any talk that the NHL may play its games out of one rink in the near future appears to be less and less likely.

Although the NHL has yet to announce they are cancelling the remaining games for the regular season, it seems like a near guarantee at this point. The plan is still to have playoffs over the summer months, but it's anyone's guess for whether or not that will even be able to happen.
