The Ottawa Senators announced Monday morning that they have signed Canadian goaltender Kevin Mandolese to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Mandolese, 19, was in the midst of a fantastic season with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the QMJHL prior to the season being shut down due to COVID-19. The six-foot-four netminder had a 2.33 goals against average and a .925 save percentage to go along with a fantastic 26-8-1 record.

“Kevin worked hard this past season to become one of the top goaltenders in the QMJHL,” said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. “He's positionally sound, has good lateral mobility and has proven adept at reading the play. Since being drafted, he's been diligent about understanding what he needs to do both on and off the ice to be ready to be a pro goaltender. He's shown an ability to make timely saves and, with more seasoning, should have an opportunity to secure wins for this team in the future.”

In total for his junior career, Mandolese won 86 games in four seasons with the Screaming Eagles, which is second all time for the franchise. He also recorded six career shutouts, which was good enough to have him sitting third all time. The Senators selected him in the sixth-round (157th pick) in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
