COVID-19 claims the life of Swiss hockey legend

Roger Chappot, a star center at the top level of Swiss hockey, has passed away from COVID-19 complications at the age of 79.

Chappot won two Swiss championships with HC Villars in 1963 and 1963, leading the league in scoring in 1964. That year, he also represented Switzerland at the Winter Olympics. He also played for Switzerland in three top-level World Championships. He compiled 101 games playing for the national team. He played pro hockey until age 38 and continued at the amateur level until he was 57.

Chappot was hospitalized and released in late March, but was forced to return to the hospital on April 1st. He was placed in the ICU and ventilated.
