Tough news for the Edmonton Oilers Tuesday. The team has made a brief statement on forward Colby Cave, revealing the 25-year-old is in a medically induced coma.

"Colby Cave has been placed in a medically-induced coma and admitted to the critical care unit at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto after suffering a brain bleed overnight. Please keep Colby and his wife Emily in your thoughts and prayers at this time."

Outside of that, there are no other details available at this time.

Cave played 11 games with the Oilers in 2019-20, recording one goal. He also suited up for 44 games with the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL, notching 11 goals and 26 points. The Saskatchewan native was not drafted, instead signing an entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins in 2015. He was claimed off waivers by Edmonton in January of 2019.
