The Winnipeg Jets have agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level deal with defenceman Dylan Samberg, the team announced Tuesday morning. His contract will have an AAV of $1.175 million.

Samberg, 21, just finished up his third season with the University of Minnesota-Duluth. In 28 games this season, he put up one goal and 20 assists in 28 games. He had an extremely successful college career, winning two NCAA championships. They were looking to make it three this year but were unable to do so as the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

"It's exciting for him and exciting for our team...he's a big strong defenceman. It's exciting to have him in the fold. He had three really good years at school. Will be a great addition to our team," said current Jets defenceman Josh Morrissey after learning about the signing.

Samberg has also represented Team USA at the IIHF World Junior Championships in both 2018 and 2019. In 2018, he put up one goal and three assists in seven games to help his country win a bronze medal and in 2019, he recorded two assists while taking home a silver medal. The six-foot-four defenceman was taken in the second round (43rd) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
