The Finnish SM-Liiga, the top level league in the country, announced today that it is officially ending its season. No championship trophy will be awarded this season.

The playoffs have been cancelled and some teams will not get to play their scheduled season finale. The winner of the regular season was Karpat, having a seven-point lead over Tappara. The league has 15 teams, a 60-game season and there is no relegation for the teams at the bottom. The spots Finland receives for the next Champions Hockey League and the Spengler Cup will be determined by regular season standings.

Justin Danforth of Lukko led the league in points with 60 in 56 games played, while Julius Nattinen of JYP scored a league-leading 33 goals in 54 games. Oilers holdout Jesse Puljujarvi was fourth in the league in scoring, with 53 points in 56 games for Karpat.
