On Monday's edition of the 'Real Kyper & Bourne' podcast, Nick Kypreos, Justin Bourne and Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman discussed Colorado Avalanche pending UFA Nazem Kadri and what his next contract could look like along with where he may land.

Nick Kypreos said he heard that the AAV on Kadri's contract starts at $8 million, but may go as high as $10 million. Kypreos added that among the teams that can afford to go that route with Kadri are the Seattle Kraken and Boston Bruins.

"The number I hear is it starts at 8 and it could go as high as $10M, the teams that I'm hearing out there, two teams that can stroke that cheque right now are Seattle and the Boston Bruins."

Elliotte Friedman that one surprise team that may be in on the Kadri sweepstakes is the Washington Capitals. Washington makes perfect sense given the fact that Nicklas Backstrom is likely not going to play during the 2022-23 season after having hip surgery in June.

The list of teams interested in Kadri will be extensive, but Nick Kypreos added that the Arizona Coyotes want to take a run at signing the 31-year-old. Given their arena situation, it's hard to picture any big name free agent wanting to sign in Arizona.

"You're going to be shocked. Arizona. I'm telling you, I'm hearing Arizona wants a run at Kadri because they are desperate to show a fanbase that just because we're going into this building doesn't mean we're not serious".

Kadri, a native of London (Ontario), had the best season in his career during 2021-22. In 71 games, he recorded 87 points (28 goals, 59 assists), 71 penalty minutes and was a plus-thirteen. Kadri went on to add fifteen points in sixteen playoff games as the Avalanche won their first Stanley Cup since 2001.
