Adam Gaudette cut loose by the Ottawa Senators

Adam Gaudette's tough time finding a permanent home in the NHL continues. According to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, the Senators have informed the 25-year-old that he won't be receiving a qualifying offer from them. He will become an unrestricted free agent on July 13th.

The former fifth-round pick of the Vancouver Canucks was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks back in April of 2021. In July of the same year, he signed a one-year extension with the Hawks, but ended up on waivers in November. He was picked up by the Ottawa Senators, where he spent the rest of last season.

The forward played 50 games with the Sens, recording 4 goals and 12 points. He had a goal and 2 points in eight games with Chicago. His cap hit for 2021-22 was 997 thousand. It's tough to see him getting more than minimum on a new NHL contract.

Gaudette had some big seasons offensively with Northeastern University before making the jump to the NHL. His best NHL season was with Vancouver in 2019-20 when he put up 33 points (12G, 21A) in 59 games.
