The Detroit Red Wings announced on Saturday that they've agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with forward
Taro Hirose. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent in July.
Hirose, 25, was signed by the Red Wings as a free agent back in March of 2019 following the conclusion of his third year at Michigan State University.
The Winnipeg (Manitoba) native spent the majority of the 2021-22 campaign in the American Hockey League with the Grand Rapids Griffins. In 59 AHL games, Hirose put up 53 points (fifteen goals, 38 assists), twelve penalty minutes, and was a minus-eight.
Additionally, Hirose appeared in fifteen games for the Red Wings throughout the season, tallying four points (one goal, three assists), four penalty minutes, and was a minus-five.
