Blue Jackets sign prospect to ELC following impressive 20+ goal campaign in Finland

The Columbus Blue Jackets announced on Thursday that they've agreed to terms on a three-year, entry level contract with 2020 fourth round pick Mikael Pyyhtia.

Pyyhtia, 20, had an extremely strong year in Finland's top division playing for TPS Turku alongside 2022 top prospect Juraj Slafkovsky. In 56 games, he tallied 35 points (21 goals, 14 assists), six penalty minutes, and was a plus-eight.

The numbers Pyyhtia put up during the 2021-22 season are very impressive for his age, finishing fifth in the league in goals with 21.

Columbus liked what they saw from Pyyhtia throughout the season and felt that he was ready to make the jump to North America for the 2022-23 season.
