Vegas' slim playoff chances got even smaller following their collapse at home against the San Jose Sharks on Sunday. The Golden Knights led the Sharks 4-2 early in the third period, but then later in the period, San Jose kicked things into high gear and scored with two minutes left to bring the game within one.

In the dying moments of the game, just when the Golden Knights thought they were about to secure the two points, Sharks forward Timo Meier scored with less than one second remaining to force overtime.

Overtime settled nothing and the game headed for the shootout where Sharks rookie forward Thomas Bordeleau scored to complete the comeback.

Following the game, Golden Knights head coach Peter DeBoer told reporters that if the team misses the playoffs, this loss to San Jose would be 'hard to sleep on'.

"You hope that it doesn't cost us a playoff spot," DeBoer said. "If it does, that's a tough one to sleep on all summer, but I'm going to look at the glass half-full here."

"We found a way to get a point, and hopefully that point is the difference between us making it or not," he added.

The Golden Knights now sit three points out of a playoff spot with three games remaining. They'll be back in action on Tuesday night in what will be a make or break game against the team they are chasing in the wild card standings, the Dallas Stars.
