The Detroit Red Wings announced on Sunday that they've agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract, beginning next season, with 2021 sixth overall pick Simon Edvinsson.

Edvinsson, 19, spent the 2021-22 season in the Swedish Hockey League playing for Frolunda HC. In 44 games this season, the Kungsbacka (Sweden) native had 19 points (two goals, seven assists), 18 penalty minutes, and was a plus-13. His strong play this season made him a finalist for the SHL Rookie of the Year award.

Detroit has a solid young group to build around for the future. Simon Edvinsson, Lucas Raymond, Moritz Seider, Theodor Niederbach, William Wallinder, Red Savage, Sebastian Cossa, Albin Grewe, among others.
