The record holder for the most consecutive games played in the NHL may be missing his first game in years very soon. Keith Yandle of the Philadelphia Flyers currently holds the top spot for the "Iron Man Streak" at 989 games and counting. However, he is not practicing with his team on Thursday. Flyers coach Mike Yeo told reporters Yandle is sick.

There's no word on what Yandle's illness is. The Flyers next game is Saturday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs. There's still a possibility Yandle could be well enough to play by then, but that depends on his illness and how quickly he recovers.

If Yandle misses Saturday's game, Phil Kessel of the Arizona Coyotes is next in line to take over the top spot. He currently sits at 967, meaning he would have to wait until next season to officially take over the number one position. The only other active NHLer anywhere close to Kessel and Yandle is San Jose's Brent Burns. He's still quite a ways off at 663 and currently holds the 11th position on the list.
