Canadiens reportedly close to signing their top prospect
The Montreal Canadiens are reportedly close to signing top prospect Jordan Harris to his entry-level contract, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Harris' NCAA career came to an end on Friday afternoon after his school, Northeastern, lost in overtime of the semi-finals of the Northeast Region playoffs to Western Michigan.
During a Q&A session with fans on Twitch earlier this week, Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes said that the team had spoken with Harris about the opportunity to play for the organization.
It's also worth noting that Kent Hughes has known Jordan Harris for a very long time. Hughes' son, Jack, was on that Northeastern University team with Jordan, and the two have played with and against each other since the age of seven or eight.
The Canadiens drafted Harris back in 2018 in the third round, with the 71st overall pick. Harris will be a key piece of the Canadiens' blue line going forward along with Alexander Romanov, Justin Barron and Kaiden Guhle.
