In the competitive Atlantic Division, nothing is certain. The Sabres will have to beat a few top contender teams like the Lightning, the Bruins, the Maple Leafs, and the Panthers. There's also the underestimated Ottawa Senators, who have playoff aspirations. One thing is certain: it won't be easy staying at the top of the rankings in that division.
A solution has emerged recently to help the Sabres achieve their goals.
The Sabres have an intriguing prospect coming up between the pipes: Devon Levi.
The 21-year-old played the first seven NHL games of his career last season, and he showed that he's ready to compete at that level.
He had a 5-2 record, as well as a 2.94 GAA and a .905 SV%.
However, even if he does great things for the Sabres, next year will be his first complete season in the NHL, and he could use some help.
A link has been made between Logan Thompson and Buffalo.
Thompson, 26, took part in 57 NHL games for the Golden Knights. Last season, he had a 21-13-3 record, a 2.65 GAA, and a .915 SV% in 37 games.
Levi and Thompson could very well cause a surprise and lead the Sabres to the playoffs for the first time since 2011.
