Blackhawks Head Coach Reveals the Real Reason Connor Bedard is Getting Benched
Connor Bedard is undeniably emerging as an NHL superstar, but at just 18 years old, he has a lot to learn before reaching his full potential.
The Chicago Blackhawks' head coach, Luke Richardson, recognizes this fact and wants to make the right decisions to help the young star develop.
Why Blackhawks' Head Coach Limits Bedard's Ice Time
In a recent press conference, Richardson explained why he doesn't send Bedard when his team is protecting a lead at the end of games.
This is what he said:
"When they're close and we have the lead, I think we've been using guys like Dickinson's line and Tyler Johnson's and Kershev's, guys like that, that have a little more experience to play in a five on six situation at this level. So he's not going to be probably a part of that equation yet.
But, you know, he's a great player and he's got a good eye hand coordination with stick abilities that at some point we'd like him to be involved in that, but right now, that probably plays into ice time as well at the end of the game."

As he gets more experience, Bedard's role will change, and he'll certainly be on the ice for most of the important moments.
