Fans of the Edmonton Oilers are concerned after
Connor McDavid missed practice today for the second day in a row. Many are left wondering whether something is wrong.
With no official announcement from the Edmonton Oilers themselves, it was up to radio colour commentator, and Sportsnet panelist Bob Stauffer to let everyone know that
Connor McDavid was not at practice for the second day in a row.
"The @EdmontonOilers
Connor McDavid is NOT on the ice today for a full practice."
As reporter Mark Spector pointed out, this is not how McDavid usually operates.
"No McDavid at practice today, second day off in a row for No. 97.
That is uncharacteristic. Let's see where this goes."
It's also worth noting that Edmonton Oilers GM Ken Holland recently recalled former first-round pick
Dylan Holloway from the AHL's Bakersfield Condors. Holloway is participating in practice today.
"The @EdmontonOilers today:
RNH-Draisaitl-Hyman
Kane-Henrique-Foegele
Holloway-McLeod-Perry
Janmark-Carrick/Ryan-Brown
Ekholm-Bouchard
Nurse-Ceci
Kulak-Desharnais
Stecher
Skinner
Pickard."
The Edmonton Oilers currently have six games left in the 2023-24 regular season, with the first one taking place tomorrow night against the Vegas Golden Knights. This may be a simple case of a team resting its star player in advance of the post season. However, no update from the team itself has left many nervous with the playoffs so close.
