Ever since the 2021-22 seasons started to go south for the Montreal Canadiens, which was pretty much right away, there has been lots of chatter regarding forward Tyler Toffoli. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, that chatter is picking up, and a team from Alberta seems to be the front runner.
"There are some rumblings today Tyler Toffoli and [Calgary] is picking up steam," said Friedman on Twitter. "Let's see where it goes."
Update: This trade is done. Here's the return to Montreal according to Friedman.
Toffoli is in year two of a four year contract with Montreal. He carries an annual cap hit of $4.25 million. In 37 games this season, he has nine goals and 26 points.
