Alexander Ovechkin always seems to have time for fans, even when they are opponents. The game between the Washington Capitals and Vancouver Canucks may not have ended to way Ovechkin wanted on Sunday, with the Canucks winning 4-2, but Ovechkin still took some time to take a picture with Vancouver prospect and fellow Russian Vasily Podkolzin. Podkolzin uploaded the photo to his Instagram account with the caption "Dream come true." Ovi later shared the photo on his own account.
Podkolzin, 20, is in his first full season in the NHL after being drafted 10th overall in 2019. Like many young Russians, he grew up idolizing Ovechkin. It must have been an absolute thrill to get to play against him on the ice. Podkolzin has seven goals and nine points in 36 games this season.
