Following a thrilling OT victory over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday, the Kings found themselves on the receiving end of an absolute thrashing at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night.

"It's [expletive] just embarassing." With a quote like that, it's safe to say Drew Doughty is disappointed in his team's performance in Vancouver, as the Canucks were absolutely on fire, delivering an 8-2 beatdown to the Kings.

Even with the Canucks playing at the level that they did, Doughty seemed intent on dismissing the Canucks' efforts in the decisive victory, identifying the outcome as more of a failure on the Kings' part than it was a success on the Canucks' part. "A team like that should not be beating a team like ours 8-2. There's absolutely no way."

L.A. Kings Head Coach, Todd McLellan, echoed Doughty's sentiments, firing a warning shot across the bow, telling his players that a better effort is required for those who wish to remain on the roster. "Some of the players that I think we've counted on, or we need to count on have to play a lot better or they don't belong in the League."

The Kings do not play again until Saturday night, when they host the Preds. Surely, we can expect a much more fulsome effort in that contest from a Kings team that has opened the season with a 1-2-0 record.
