The Ottawa Senators are trying to put a competitive team on the ice, as what they have now seems to be unacceptable.

Multiple sources are reporting that the Sens have acquired NY Rangers F Vladislav Namestnikov in exchange for a 4th round draft pick and D Nick Ebert, former 7th round pick of the LA Kings, currently playing for the Belleville Senators, Ottawa's AHL affiliate. Ebert is not considered a serious prospect, confirming that for the Rangers this is a salary dump as they gear up for the return of Filip Chytil.

Namestnikov came to the Rangers from Tampa Bay last year at the trade deadline in the mega-deal that sent Ryan McDonagh and J.T. Miller to the Bolts in exchange for Namestnikov, Libor Hajek, Brett Howden, and two high draft picks.
Namestnikov is on the last year of his contract, with a $4 million cap hit. The Rangers will retain $750k of his salary. It was believed that the Rangers would move him and/or Chris Kreider this season to avoid a salary cap crunch next year. The chances of Kreider staying have just gone up with this trade.

Namestnikov, 26, has 360 NHL games under his belt with 66 goals and 92 assists.
