Since entering the league in the 2016-2017 season, Mathew Tkachuk has managed to get under the skin of a lot of players. However, there is no one in the league that he has managed to irritate more than LA Kings defenceman, Drew Doughty.

The rivalry between the two started back in Tkachuk's rookie season, when he was suspended two games for an elbow to the face of Doughty. Since then, the two have gone at it in almost every game that the Flames and Kings have played against each other.

Over the last two seasons, Doughty hasn't shied away from making comments about Tkachuk to the media, and this year is no exception. In a post-practice scrum, Doughty was asked why their rivalry hasn't been squashed and whether it could have been resolved with a compliment. Doughty responded with "I think we both know who the better player is, so if he wants to compliment me, I'll give him one back."

Tkachuk was then asked by SportsNet's, Eric Francis if he respects Doughty, to which he replied " He's a good player and had a good career, Yeah, he's a good player."

Tkachuk was recently asked if he thought he should respect Doughty because he's a Stanley Cup and Norris Trophy winner. Tkachuk replied "I repsect Gio (Flames defenseman Mark Giordano), he's a Norris Trophy winner."

The Kings and the Flames are set to face off Wednesday night in Calgary.
