After having off-season hip surgery and not signing an NHL contract in free agency, veteran goaltender Tuukka Rask is set to return to the crease this weekend.

The 34-year-old has signed a professional tryout contract with the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League, the affiliate of the Boston Bruins.

Rask, a native of Savonlinna, Finland, is expected to get the start in goal on Friday night when Providence takes on the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. From there, a decision will be made on when he will sign a contract with Boston and return to the Bruins.

Rask has spent his entire career with the Boston Bruins, parts of fourteen seasons. He's currently the Bruins' all-time leader in wins with 306 and second all-time in shutouts with 52.
