Hockey Quebec, the governing body for the sport in the province, as well as the QMJHL, have agreed to pause their seasons due to COVID-19 as well as the restrictions put in place by the government on Monday.

Yesterday, the Quebec government announced that bars, gyms, schools, theatres would have to shutdown for an indefinite period of time, while sporting events couldn't have fans in attendance, for the foreseeable future.

"Hockey Quebec is temporarily suspending games until January 9, 2022 inclusively. Practices are still permitted. We therefore wish to participate in the collective effort to curb the spread of the virus, while keeping our young people active," Hockey Quebec said in a tweet.

"The owners of the QMJHL have just decided to put their season on hiatus until January 7. In the current scenario, the matches would be resumed later," Mikael Lalancette of Le Soleil de Quebec said.

It's still unclear if those dates mentioned above are feasible for a return to action given the current state of COVID-19 in Quebec. As of 11am ET, the province has yet to put out their numbers for Tuesday, but it is expected that they'll climb to over 5,000.
