Nearly two weeks ago, Detroit Red Wings forward Tyler Bertuzzi tested positive for COVID-19 and was placed in the league's protocol. Bertuzzi is the only known player in the NHL who's unvaccinated and he told reporters on Monday morning that he intends to stay unvaccinated.
When asked about if he would change his stance on the COVID-19 vaccine, Bertuzzi said, "Natural immunity now."
He also mentioned that he "felt stuffy and a little headache. There were a few days I was stuffy and didn't really want to do any cardio. I pretty much walked every day with my dog to the park and I tried to stay as active as I possibly could."
"Obviously it sucks missing games, but it is what it is," he added.
The Sudbury, Ontario native has appeared in twenty games this season where he's tallied eighteen points (nine goals, nine assists), twelve penalty minutes, and is a plus-nine.
Bertuzzi is expected to be in the lineup tomorrow night when they host the New York Islanders.
